Disable AutoRun / AutoPlay

 Hello friends in this post i am gonna show you how to disable autorun feature of the windows 7 PC which is Highly recommended to keep your PC safe.

 Most malicious programs spread because of the Autorun feature, which automatically executes a file mentioned in the autorun.inf file located at the root of any removable device like USB. Also, the Open folder to view files option can be easily used to run any unwanted file or executable, and thus your system may get infected.If an Autorun script includes some malicious code to gain administrative privileges of the system, it may not only damages the OS, but also delete your personal files and folders and corrupt your softwares too.

 It is recommended to disable autorun feature of USB drives / external hard disks to prevent system from such harmful attacks. In this post, we will guide you through the process of disabling Autorun behavior in Windows 7.

I also recommend you to keep an antivirus for your system because disabling Autorun feature will not provide full protection. For those who deal with external flash drive,Storage media diabling autorun feature is must.


Disable AutoRun / AutoPlay Using Local Group Policy Editor


Step 1: Pull up the Run dialog box (Win + R) and type gpedit.msc. 




Step 2:  Hit Enter to launch the Local   Group Policy Editor. 


     


Step 2: Within Group Policy Editor, navigate to this location:

             Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > AutoPlay                  Policies






Step 3: Double-click the Turn off Autoplay option to edit its settings.








Step 4: Select Enabled, and then select All drives in the options panel below. Hit Apply when done.





Step 5: Restart your computer.

That’s it; the AutoRun feature has been completely disabled for all users, and for all drives that connect to your machine.
